Contributing to the Sorority and Fraternity Pages

This text may seem verbose because it is designed with the goal of being suitable for both people and search engines.

The African American Culture site is being built to exhibit many aspects of African American Culture. Part of this effort involves the representation of Black Fraternities and Sororities. The pages are being built under the assumption that members of these groups already know the information presented here. Therefore, the focus is mainly on presenting information about Black Fraternities and Sororities to high school students, college students, and other people who may be interested in joining and wish to have a source of information about each Fraternity and Sorority.

All aspects of Black culture represent the vast diversity richness of our people. There is so much diversity in feelings and perspectives that it is difficult to present them all based on just our own African American perspectives. To compensate for this difficulty, we rely on feedback from website viewers. It is our hope that members of Black Sororities and Fraternities will send mail, pictures, video, or whatever they feel is beneficial, in order to help us accurately represent this element of our Black culture.

There may be a high school student who is about to enter college and considering joining a Fraternity or Sorority. If you feel there is critical information about your organization that such a student should see before considering a Fraternity or Sorority then we may be able to present this information to people looking for it. Your feedback will make this site better for the people who see it and a better representation of you, your Fraternity or Sorority, and Black people in general. If there is something you think is wrong then let us know. If there is something you think is right then let us know. If there is something you have to add then let us know. All questions and comments are welcomed and nothing is ignored.

There are rumors that Black Sororities and Fraternities are more destructive than good. Some people believe these organizations beat and degrade their members. There are also rumors that Fraternities and Sororities exclude Black people who are not a part of their membership. If you can show examples of how these rumors are not true then we can help represent our people in a more accurate way. Some people think the only good things Black Fraternities and Sororities do are minor community service acts. If you can show that there is more, please contact us.

We would particularly like to add pictures or even video. If you have pictures that you can send then they would be appreciated. If you have a video of a step show or other activity, please contact us. Please specify that you are giving us permission to display those images on the Internet, and you have the right to grant that permission. Thank you for reading and considering this.
